Saniya

From the streets of Khagaria, Bihar, hails young Saniya Praveen and her family. She is the third daughter of a family of six. Saniya met with an unfortunate accident as she slipped and fell which left her with a little pain, gradually the pain worsened, and she developed a swelling. Her parents took her to the local hospital in Kishanganj, Bihar, where the doctor took an MRI scan, and it was revealed that she had a tumour. Her family took her to Patna, where she had a biopsy done, after which she was diagnosed with a bone tumour. From there, they came to Mumbai to seek treatment. She underwent surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. Saniya was supposed to go back to school, but due to the treatments and surgeries, she wasn't able to keep up with her studies. Her father is seasonally employed as a security guard at times, and does whatever job is available in the village. Her mother said that, with the meagre income it is very difficult for them to manage her surgery expenses and treatments.

CHF lent a helping hand by providing her with accommodation so that she won't go back to the streets outside the hospital soon after her surgery. Many times the patients have no other go and end up on the streets days after the surgery with their fresh wounds and stitches. Saniya and her family were very grateful for the support extended by CHF. The surgery was a great success and Saniya has returned back home, feeling much better.
