CANCER WARRIORS’ CARE PROGRAMME
Distribution during monsoon season
As monsoon arrives in the month of June in Mumbai, and following a weather forecast of the cyclone Biparjoy, CHF proactively distributed 120 tarpaulin sheets to the cancer patients staying on the footpaths of Tata Memorial Hospital ahead of the expected rain. To our surprise it started raining within 30 minutes after the distribution. It was a relief to the patients and their families, as they immediately put out the sheets to protect themselves from the rain. The patients living on the footpaths are often exposed to different weather conditions like extreme heat and heavy rains. Many times, patients are in vulnerable situations as they are sent back to the footpaths even before their stitches and wounds heal. Following the distribution of monsoon sheets, we also handed out a total of 100 umbrellas to the patients and their relatives. The people were very happy and thankful for them. Indeed it was a day filled with smiles. The patients and their families expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the timely aid rendered by CHF.
