Neha Kumari is a 22-year-old young girl from Ranchi, who suffered from bone cancer in her right knee. When she was in 10th grade, she fell down once in August 2017 and her leg swelled up and she was unable to walk for three months. After running several tests in Ranchi, they diagnosed her with bone tumour. She then came to Tata Hospital along with her younger brother and uncle for her treatment which went on for 6 long months.
In February 2018, she returned to her village after the operation and restarted her studies. But again in 2020, she once again experienced immense pain and swelling in her leg. She was unable to stand, sit, or engage in any other regular activity. To her shock and disappointment, she came to know that the cancer had recurred. She was once again back in Tata hospital and underwent a major knee replacement surgery. The cost for the operation was Rs 4 lakhs 10 thousand.
Her father was a daily wage earner and advanced in years. Her elder brother was the only breadwinner who supported the family by selling footwear in the market. Neha came for her treatment in Mumbai along with her younger brother Abhishek. Her mother was unable to accompany her since she was also quite ill and had several medical issues. She had no female companion to take care of her after the surgery. CHF supported Neha for her surgery expenses and it was a successful surgery.
