On Saturday, August 6, 2022, CHF celebrated Friendship Day with cancer patients outside Tata Hospital and children living on the streets. The area was filled with music and excitement, turning out to be more vibrant than we had imagined.
The children tied friendship bands on each other and all the cancer patients, many of whom adorned our wrists with bands. We distributed gifts that included plates, bowls, spoons, glasses, and chocolates. The children went tent to tent, singing, dancing, and sharing gifts with each patient. Brother Selvinson played the guitar, filling the atmosphere with delightful jingles, while the children joyfully participated in the festivities.
It was heartwarming to see the smiles on the faces of the cancer patients as they joined in the activities. Many expressed their gratitude, sharing that no one had ever done something like this for them before. Towards the end of the day, we cut a friendship cake and shared it with everyone on the streets.
There could not have been a better way to celebrate this day. It was truly a fruitful and memorable experience.
