Cancer Warriors' Care

The Cancer Warriors' Care Programme at the Catherine Hope Foundation (CHF) was born out of a deep sense of compassion and a commitment to supporting cancer patients who face extraordinary challenges, both from the disease itself and the harsh realities of survival.

While the programme was initially launched during the pandemic to meet the urgent needs of cancer patients stranded outside Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Hospital, we continue to offer fundamental support to these patients regularly. Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai is one of the best cancer treatment centers in India, attracting patients from all across the country. However, the high cost of living in Mumbai presents a significant challenge for many of these patients and their families. With limited financial means, many are forced to stay on the footpaths near the hospital while undergoing treatment. The lack of affordable housing and basic amenities leaves them vulnerable to the elements and often without access to necessities crucial to survival.

This is where the Catherine Hope Foundation (CHF) is a vital lifeline. CHF’s Cancer Warriors Care Programme is dedicated to supporting these brave individuals throughout their treatment journey. Our volunteers are deeply committed to catering to cancer patients, ensuring they have access to food, water, fresh fruits, pre-loved clothes, mosquito nets, and tarpaulin sheets to protect them from the harsh Mumbai weather. During the colder months, we distribute sweaters and blankets to help keep patients warm. Many individuals, already struggling with mobility or debilitating illness, also require practical assistance. Our volunteers help them find safe, temporary accommodations, and when necessary, CHF steps in to provide rental support if they are unable to afford their stay, ensuring they don't have to endure the hardships of living on the streets.

For those facing mobility challenges, we donate wheelchairs, as well as protein supplements specifically for patients with mouth and stomach cancer. Additionally, we extend financial assistance to help cover the costs of chemotherapy and surgeries, ensuring vital treatments are within reach. Our efforts extend beyond just providing material relief. At CHF, our volunteers are always there for patients, offering not only physical care but also emotional support. We listen to their stories, offer companionship, and ensure they know they are never alone in this fight. It is this personal touch that truly sets us apart, making a meaningful difference in their journey.

At CHF, we believe that every cancer warrior deserves not just treatment, but dignity, care, and hope. Through our ongoing support, we strive to make their journey a little easier, and a little less lonely. With your support, we can continue to provide the lifeline they need to keep fighting.
