In the spirit of creating a brighter tomorrow, we are determined to raise many more Catherines. Though she is no longer with us, our heartfelt vision is to provide every child at Catherine Hope Center, Ennore with the same facilities and privileges that Catherine would have received if she were alive, be it access to quality education, extracurricular activities, or emotional support.
We believe in going beyond academics; we celebrate creativity and expression through music classes, spoken English, library adventures, and engaging industrial visits. While we cherish the memory of one remarkable Catherine, our passion lies in nurturing the unique talents of each child, ensuring they have the opportunities to shine brightly and thrive in a warm, supportive community. Together, we are not just remembering; we are building a brighter future, one Catherine at a time.
On August 1st, 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Catherine Hope Foundation (CHF) inaugurated the Catherine Hope Center to support children who had fallen significantly behind in their education due to various obstacles, such as lack of access to smartphones or gadgets for online learning, insufficient books, and financial constraints that made it difficult to pay school fees. Many of these children had lost their fundamental reading and writing skills and had developed negative habits from spending idle time on the streets. Moved by their circumstances, we initiated a comprehensive tuition programme covering all subjects.
Today, the Center is backed by a team of dedicated volunteers and full-time staff members, all committed to providing care and education to these children. Over time, the Center has expanded its mission to support and empower not only children but also differently-abled individuals, widows, vulnerable women, and the poorest of the poor from the communities around Ennore and Ernavur.
At our Center, we are committed to fostering the holistic development of children. Beyond tuition in core subjects, our programme includes mandatory reading sessions, spoken English classes, interactive educational games, counseling, music lessons, and enriching activities like the Change Ambassadors Programme. These diverse components are designed to nurture a sense of responsibility and inspire children to contribute to their community actively.
The Center also prioritizes providing support to the differently-abled community in the area. Our data and community feedback reveal a significant need for stable income sources to achieve financial independence. Many individuals seek help with starting small businesses and mobility services. We are committed to identifying their unique needs and providing assistance to improve their living conditions. We provide crutches and prosthetics to address daily living challenges and plan to offer occupational and physiotherapy services through qualified professionals. Along with this, we help them secure a disability certificate from the Government, allowing them to access available benefits.
