In November 2021, Chennai experienced severe rainfall that had a devastating impact on the community. Many homes were flooded, damaging belongings and leaving in distress. Daily wage earners faced significant hardship, as they were unable to work due to the sudden deluge.
As basic needs went unmet and meals became scarce, the police evacuated affected residents, who sought refuge in nearby schools until conditions stabilized. Over time, the situation deteriorated, posing serious risks to daily wage laborers, differently-abled individuals, and others in the community.
In response, we distributed groceries and dry rations to those affected by the floods in Ennore and Ernavur. Daily wage workers, unable to reach their jobs and earn a livelihood, expressed gratitude for our initiative. We also provided groceries to differently-abled individuals struggling due to the disaster.
Many children and their families from CHC, impacted by the floods, greatly benefited from this relief program.
All the beneficiaries were overjoyed and grateful that our timely assistance had provided food to their tables when they were unable to leave their homes to work or feed their families.
